Popcorn Ceiling Before
Popcorn Ceiling After

It might be a good time to remove the popcorn texture from your ceilings. Does your popcorn ceiling look yellowed? Is it in need of repair? Maybe you're ready for a modern look? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, then you have found the perfect contractor for your drywall project. I can remove the popcorn texture and apply a more updated look. The best and most popular is a smoothwall finish. Other popular finishes are a knockdown spraytexture or an orange peel finish and some people prefer a skiptrowel finish.

Removing an ugly popcorn ceiling is one of the best cosmetic upgrades you can make to a home. It is generally a simple process that can be completed in a few days. By properly preparing the area, I can remove the old popcorn ceiling, touch up the drywall, and apply a new drywall texture or beautiful smooth-wall finish.

I very meticulous start with the prep work all the way through to the texturing. After the popcorn is removed and the new texturing is complete, your ready to prime and paint.

Steps to Remove Popcorn Ceiling

  1. Remove small furniture, pictures, knick knacks, etc. I can work around large furniture.
  2. Prepare the area with plastic using a thicker plastic for floors and a painters plastic on walls.
  3. Moisten the acoustic popcorn ceiling with a small water sprayer.
  4. Scrape off acoustic popcorn ceiling taking care not to damage the drywall underneath.
  5. Screw off ceiling as most acoustic ceilings have only been nailed. They usually tend to sag and the board is loose. The job will never look perfect without re-screwing off the ceiling.
  6. Using drywall compound, skim coat drywall seams, nail holes, and corners and repair any problem areas.
  7. Make a beautiful smoothwall finish, through a process of skimming and sanding or give it an orange peel, spraytexture or skip trowel finish.
  8. Clean up.
